Worship To God

Singing

Singing has always been a strong and important part of worship to God. The longest book in the Bible is just a long songbook (the Book of Psalms). God’s people always sang whether it be in times of rejoicing (Exodus 15:1-19), or in times of sorrow (Acts16:22-25). Today we sing together as a church every Lord’s day. Colossians 3:16, and Ephesians 5:19 encourage us to do so. It is an encouragement, and a learning process for us as Christians. But it is also an act of Praise and Worship to God.

Praying

We as a congregation try to pray frequently to God. We hear of very few instances in the Bible where people see visions of standing before the throne of God, but the beauty is that we as a congregation, and individuals, get to go before the throne of God as much as we would like through prayer to Him! (1 Thessalonians 5:17-18)

Communing

Communion is commonly described through 1 Corinthians 11:23-26. This is a time that we meet every first day of the week, as is given an example in Acts 20:7, and we remember together the death of Jesus Christ. It is a moment every week to remember the body that was torn apart in our place, and the blood that was shed to cleanse us of our sins.

Studying

In addition to Sunday Morning and Wednesday Night Bible class, we study the word of God in every worship service through a sermon. 2 Timothy 2:15 encourages us to be “accurately handling the word of truth.” As Christians we try to study God’s word as much as possible together so that we can all be well equipped in God’s words.

Giving

We as a congregation have a time in our worship service to give back to the Lord. 1 Corinthians 16:1-2 encourages the Galatian church to give as they have prospered every first day of the week. But the example of the attitude is given in 2 Corinthians 9:6-7, where Paul is telling us to give as we have purposed in our hearts. We should not be doing it grudgingly, but cheerfully!
